Independence Day isn’t far away — India is completing 75 years of independence this year. And what better outfit fits this occasion more than the much-loved saree! The only thing I didn’t appreciate, especially since this is from a common site like Myntra, is that this saree does not come with a blouse piece. I’m not sure why they aren’t providing a blouse piece — a matching blouse piece is the norm these days, online or offline. Having said that, if you’re someone like me who always wears mix-and-match blouse-saree combinations, it won’t be a big deal for you. You can match it with any cotton, velvet, plain or fancy blouse that has any of the colours of the national flag. I think it will look amazing if you team it up with a green or orange coloured blouse.

Navratri is a festival close to my heart. Garba and the confectionaries are partly the cause of it, but there is something most people overlook – “Feminisim”. If prepping your skin for the monsoon is bothering you, you’ve multiple ways to fix the problems. Here are some night-time skin care tips that can make your monsoon days brighten.

The dictionary says, “culottes are calf-length trousers that resemble a skirt”. However, being a diehard fan of these pants, I say, “culottes are life.” These are super comfy, smart, and of course, trendy. And, you can wear these just about anywhere, right from college to office.

Kaftan dress

If you don’t own a kaftan dress this monsoon, you can’t call yourself fashionista. A kaftan dress is must this monsoon season. Trust me they are very comfy and comes with beautiful prints and designs. You can opt for motif, floral, tie and dye, bandhani and so on… It comes in endless material and designs. Satin kaftans are my favourite. It looks gorgeous and gives royal look. Short and 3/4 length kaftan would be great for rainy days. They are mostly flowy and can dry quickly in case you get wet.

Short kaftan dresses you can later on wear with ankle length leggings and it will give amazing traditional look. You can even wear it that way for the upcoming Raksha bandhan festival.

Comfort and versatility make a kimono the must-have!

Kimono, a design straight from Japan right into your monsoon wardrobe. Wow! It’s an easy-breezy robe that is a fabulous fashion accessory and makes you monsoon-ready in minutes. You can either wear a kimono dress or sport it like a shrug over an outfit. The latter option will allow you to show the dress with some amount of coverage.

Slay the rains in midi skirts!

When in doubt, go for a midi or mid-length skirt. It looks stunning and the best way to avoid the puddles, the characteristics of the rainy season. And, if you are more than in love with denim, which you find wiser to avoid when it rains, a midi denim skirt is just the one for you.

Go buttoned-up formal with a shirtdress!

The days when it has to be formal, but then it’s raining cats and dogs, a shirt dress is good to go. It bridges the gap between reserved formality and easygoing practicality. All you need to make sure is, the print and style are low-key and more traditional than bright and florals.

Cropped is the new complete in when it’s pouring!

Cropped skirts, pants, trousers, and dresses are comfortable and stylish and save you the nightmare of getting them soiled every time you step out. And, the best part, these are high enough to stay away from the muddy-mess.

Mid-length shorts are my go-to!

The rainy season and shorts are like made for each other. However, if you want some more coverage, and yet stay-away-dirt-and-wetness, mid-length shorts are the best buy. Pair it with an off-shoulder, oversized t-shirt, or crop top, and you are ready for the day.

When you can’t do without Indian outfits!

Can’t miss the Indian charm during rains? You don’t have to. Just a little bit of twist-n-turn, mix-n-match, and that’s all you need. Go for short Kurtis and pair those with ankle-length legging or jeggings. Puddles will bother you no more. What to do with the dupatta that sometimes goes unmanageable during rains? Simple, swap your dupatta with a matching stole or scarf.

What I feel is, when it comes to finding the most comfortable piece of garment to embrace the downpour of the monsoon without much hassle, Bermuda makes the best choice. Somewhere between an upper-knee and mid-thigh length, you can wear it loose or tight-fitted and with whichever top you want. Although you cannot wear it to your workplace, until it is a GO-AS-YOU-LIKE competition, jokes apart, Bermuda can be your go-to.

Give a big nod to High-waist trousers!

 If you are looking for a casual edge but a little bit of elegance, sporting high-waist pants can be a good idea. It’s elegant and chic. Plus, you can wear these comfortably as office wear. Going on a brunch? No problem! Put a fluorescent top and a printed scarf, and look effortlessly cool and gorgeous.
