Know The Myths/Facts About Hair Damage & Ways To Overcome It!

Hair that slays, starts with Good Care!

Hair plays a very important role in your appearance and therefore its loss and damage will make any person conscious irrespective of their gender. Despite many attempts, we are somehow unable to know the root cause or find the right remedy for it. The self-doubt in us leads us to believe in what people around us say regarding hair damage.

For you to know the right facts, myths, and how to overcome hair problems, we, at StyleFundas, have listed thorough research of various reasons and solutions below to overcome hair damage.

Firstly, let us know the basic types of hair damage and the reasons behind them.

There are mainly 3 types of Hair Damage:

    1. Fragile Hair

They look frizzy, get tangled easily, lack shine, and are unmanageable. Your cuticles (the outer cellular layer of a hair) as well as your cortex are damaged due to hair color, chemical straighteners or perms, and heat styling (blow dryers, flat iron, curling iron).

    2. Dull and Unruly Hair

They have split ends and visible hair breakage. Your cuticles are damaged easily and the main cause behind that is heat, UV rays, friction, and high pH hair products.

    3. Thinning Hair

They are patchy or have slow hair growth and excessive falling out. Here, your hair follicles are damaged which are responsible for hair growth and are a living part of your hair. The main reason behind it is product build-up, excessive combing or hair brushing, extensions, and chemical treatments.

So, as we are well aware of the types of hair damage, let us know the myths and facts about hair.

    MYTHS AND FACTS:

    1)Myth:

Washing your hair every day causes hair loss.

    Fact:

Actually, washing hair every day only gets rid of the fallen-out hair. Hair fall is more related to scalp problems.

    2) Myth:

Applying a hair mask every day instead of a hair conditioner makes your hair more supple.

    Fact:

Hair masks should always be applied once a week. They cannot be a replacement for the conditioners as both have different properties and work accordingly. Applying hair masks every day will make your hair greasy and frizzy.

    3) Myth:

Stress causes grey hair- Stress has nothing to do with your hair turning grey.

    Fact:

The color of your hair depends upon the production of a pigment called melanin. Hair turns grey when melanin has completely depleted from your body. Although, stress can increase the amount of hair fall.

    4) Myth:

Sleep doesn’t affect your hair- Contrary to popular belief, sleep can affect your hair.

    Fact:

The human body produces a hormone called melatonin. This hormone helps your body regulate your sleep cycle, and has been shown to increase hair growth. If the body reduces melatonin levels, it is highly likely to cause hair loss. Sleep deprivation can eventually lead to stress, which will result in telogen effluvium hair loss.

    5) Myth:

Brush 100 strokes a day for healthy hair- Brushing your hair too much causes friction which leads to more damaged hair especially if they are fragile.

    Fact:

However, brushing gently a few times on the scalp can help distribute natural oils from root to scalp. Never brush your wet hair either as it is at its weakest and vulnerable to breakage.

    6) Myth:

Frequent trims make hair grow longer faster.

    Fact:

Huh? Hair grows from follicles in the scalp and the rest is dead. But you should trim your hair every six to eight weeks to avoid getting or removing split ends. “Splits’’ cannot be mended back or sealed back as some products claim. And if you are tired of trimming, and seeking for a good hair cut, check out our post of “Trending Haircuts for Women In Style this 2022”.

    7) Myth:

Fine, thin hair should skip conditioner.

    Fact:

No! Always condition your hair after a shampoo irrespective of your hair type. Conditioning hydrates your hair and is a part of a healthy hair regime.

    8) Myth:

Shampoos stop working after a while.

    Fact:

“Your hair gets used t it.” That is what they say. There is little evidence to support this theory although Katy Walsh of Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes says switching shampoos too often can actually make things worse. “Your PH balance will be off, and that can cause problems like a dry scalp and hair breakage from lack of moisture,” she explains.

    9) Myth:

Natural oils are good for your hair.

    Fact:

Natural oils cannot penetrate the hair shaft deep enough to make a lasting impact. And aside from that, it will leave your sticky residue and make your hair strands greasy.

Dos and Don’ts for your Hair Problems:

    1) Have a healthy diet

The saying, “you are what you eat” is very much applicable to your hair & skincare. A properly balanced diet is important so you can have healthy hair and skin without lacking any nutrients and proteins.

    2) Don’t stress

I know saying “don’t stress” is very simple. But try de-stressing bathing routine, exercising, or meditating to relieve stress.

    3) Keep your hair Hydrated

Keeping your hair hydrated is very important. Especially during winters when dryness seems to be everywhere. Hydrated hair doesn’t break easily and retains the nutrients longer in your hair.

    4) Spare the heat

Avoid using flat and curling irons on a regular basis. They damage your cuticles and result in damaged hair.

    5) Don’t over-process them

Perms, professional straightening, coloring, relaxers might seem healthy for your hair for a while but gradually they will harm the cuticle and lead to hair damage.

    6) Don’t over-washing

If you have an oily scalp, the temptation to wash your hair frequently is understandable. Washing them on a daily basis is okay, but washing them more than once a day might lead to stripped, straw-like hair, dried-out scalp, inflammation, and irritation.

    7) Don’t rub your wet hair with the towel

While it might seem right to rub the towel against the scalp to dry out your hair, it actually causes friction and might damage your hair cuticles as they are the most vulnerable when wet. Instead, just wrap the towel around your hair over the head, and let it absorb the water.

    8) Use lesser elastic hair ties

You might have noticed when you undo your high ponytail, a few hairs break along with the band or after its removal. It is because the scalp and cuticle are pulled and that causes hair damage. Tie your hair low sometimes, or tie them loosely when doing a bit higher ponytail.

    9) Comb carefully

Comb gently and try to untangle your hair with fingers to avoid more breakage.

    10) Rinse after swimming

If you swim frequently, rinse your hair after every swim and use the swimmer’s shampoo and conditioner to avoid damage to the hair from chlorine.

Hair damage can be frustrating and stressful, but with the correct lifestyle change and proper eating habits, it can be prevented and cured easily. I hope this was helpful to you. Try these tips and tricks and let us know how they worked out for you!

31 Scrunchie Hairstyles and Types of Scrunchies

According to Wikipedia, “The Scrunchie was patented in 1987 by Rommy Revson. She created the first prototype of the Scrunchie because she wanted a gentler version of the metal hair ties used in the 1980s. Revson named the decorative hair accessory the Scunci after her pet toy poodle. The name Scrunchie was a natural evolution, because the fabric scrunched up. After patenting the Scrunchie, Revson spent most of her time in legal disputes, both with manufacturers and her own lawyers. Scrunchies were particularly popular in the 1980s and 1990s, including larger, more elaborate versions. Scrunchies regained popularity in the mid-2010s.”

  • 8 Best Cruelty-Free Skincare Brands to be Used And Trusted in India!

8 Best Cruelty-Free Skincare Brands to be Used And Trusted in India!

We live in a world where people are hard to trust whereas we blindly trust a skincare/haircare brand merely by watching their advertisement. When we purchase skincare/ haircare products, we want to get the expected results with no damage. But are we 100% sure of the promises those companies make? We put our trust in them and expect them to do the same by keeping up to their promises. But some brands use a high amount of chemicals in their products which may harm our hair and skin in the long run.

So, why is it important to know the difference between the brands?

The answer is simple. To see the best results for the long term without the products harming us. I am going to be transparent here. When it comes to hair care and skin care, not a single product, homemade or purchased is chemical-free. Anything that is made of matter, i.e., solid, liquid, or gas has chemicals. The difference is knowing the difference between good and bad.

We, at StyleFundas have listed a few brand names which I trust and have also mentioned some reviews of myself and the people whom I know have used them.

Remember, that it varies from person to person depending upon their skin type and their skin’s pH level whether a product might suit them or not.

    1. Arata

Today, Arata creates thoughtfully-formulated, vegan products, using only soothing, nature-derived ingredients with no chemical additives, emulsifiers, dyes, or preservatives. These products are not tested on animals. They are stored in up to 100% recycled packaging that is reusable.

    REVIEW:
I got Arata’s Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Gel, and Body Lotion as a gift from my cousin. I loved the results after washing my hair but had to use the shampoo in excess to completely remove the oil from my tresses. The fragrance was no doubt AMAZING.

My hair’s quality did improve but the quantity required to do so was a lot. Maybe due to the difference in the pH level of the hair oil and shampoo. But I would recommend it to people whose hair requires very mild hair care products.

Their body lotion is quite good too. It makes the skin healthier, softer, and smoother. And it smells good too!

    2. Mamaearth

Mamaearth is the 1st Asian brand with a “MADE SAFE” certification. Their products are free of all known toxins that are banned in most countries. More than just a brand, it makes products out of love and care. Their unique selling point is the absence of toxins and harmful chemicals in their products. They do not test their products on animals. This has helped them in building a loyal customer base.

    REVIEW:
My friend Kruti is currently using Mamaearth’s onion oil, shampoo, and conditioner for the past 1 year and a half. She was suffering from dandruff & hair-fall problems and so she decided to try their products.

She read some reviews online and watched customer videos to gain trust toward the brand to ordering their products. After purchasing, within 15 days she could see the results. The amount of dandruff reduced to a tremendous level and the quality of her hair improved. The baby hairs on her forehead started growing too. The oil is very effective and helps you sleep better.

After making her first purchase, she ordered its easy-to-apply foam face wash with vitamin C and the results are great! She is happy with this brand and will continue to use it.

I recently purchased Mamaearth’s hair serum and oh, it does wonders! I wasn’t using it much earlier, but as the winters began, I used it after every wash and my hair looks so hydrated with Minimum breakage and has gotten very silky. Their onion hair serum is a must-buy for dry hair in the winter.

Don’t worry, It DOESN’T have a foul smell.

    3. MCaffeine

MCaffine is India’s 1st caffeinated personal care brand with an exciting range of Caffeinated products for young and aspiring millennials. They are a 100% Vegan & Cruelty-free, Peta certified brand. They have achieved Zero Plastic Footprint to do their bit for the environment.

    REVIEW:
My cousin, Anjali purchased the MCaffiene shampoo, hair scrub, and hair oil combo around a month back on my recommendation. She was looking for something mild, without harsh chemicals, and something well cleansing for her hair, and the product fulfills all of these areas.

Her hair type is rough(wavy) and the hair oil is beneficial as it is a mix of many oils like coconut oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil, argan oil, onion, almond, shea, jojoba, and of course coffee 😉 The shampoo is very good too as it is mild and doesn’t damage the hair. Using the hair scrub once a week does wonders in keeping the scalp clean and the scalp skin non-flaky.

The best part is…. all of it smells like your favorite coffee 🙂

I started using MCaffine products over 6 months ago. I was facing a shipment problem with my previous hair-care brand due to Covid restrictions and so, I started with the hair-care pack of hair oil, shampoo, and the hair scrub from MCaffeine. Within two washes I could see a great quality improvement in my hair. It got a silky, stronger, reduced amount of hair-fall and split ends. AND THE COFFEE FRAGRANCE IS A BONUS FOR ALL THE CAFFEINE LOVERS OUT THERE.

After this, I got its skin-care combo of the body butter and scrub and OMG they’re amazing. The scrub removes all the dead skin cells from the body, de-tans it, and makes it so smooth. The body butter then nourishes the skin and makes it softer and smoother and glowing.

I was so happy with these two combos, ordered their Cappuccino Moisturizer, Face Mask, Face Scrub, and Foam Face Wash. Their results are great too. The face moisturizer is nonsticky, prevents your skin from acne, and hydrates it. The face scrub exfoliates and removes the dead skin cells and the face mask is just so effective for hydration, glow and clearer skin.

Recently, they introduced a line of body washes and hair conditioner for hair fall as well as dandruff control. I ordered the cappuccino body wash; anti-hair fall conditioner and re-ordered their shampoo and hair scrub. I am gladdddd I started using this brand and with 100% assurance, I can say that it’s suitable for all skin types and hairs too. IT’S A MUST-TRY!

    4. Wow Skin Science

WOW Skin Science is an online store selling hair and skincare products. Its product offering also includes offers vitamins and bath and body products. Wow Skin Science Products are Safe, Nature Inspired & Dermatologically tested for your safety. They do not test on animals.

    REVIEW:
Dipti Parmar purchased WoW’s onion shampoo hair oil and it turned out to be very sticky on the scalp, the smell wasn’t good but bearable. While using WoW’s shampoo, she had to apply it 3-4 times and yet the hair remained quite greasy. She ordered an argan oil conditioner which costs 550+ yet it doesn’t work accordingly.

During the lockdown period, I started using Wow Skin Science’s products on my friend’s recommendation. I ordered its Vitamin-C Shampoo & Conditioner combo and charcoal face scrub.

The hair care products were really good for my hair. They got silky and the hair fall has reduced, but I had to use a great amount of shampoo and yet the hair remained sticky. The scalp used to get real greasy real soon.

So, I had to change the brand. The face scrub was too harsh on my face. It worked well. There’s no doubt there but didn’t suit mine over sensitive skin.

    5. Biotique

Biotique products are made of 100% organically-pure, preservative-free ingredients and renewable resources—cultivated, gathered, blended and manufactured in the foothills of the Himalayas. No animal testing. This is not a new brand, rather it had been around for over 2 decades and whose products are formulated based on ayurvedic recipes, taken from authentic and original Veda texts

    REVIEW:
Dipti Parmar has been using Biotique’s Morning Nectar Moisturizer, Hair color, and Shampoo & Conditioner for quite some time and she just loves it. After applying the moisturizer, her skin looks radiant, hydrated and the product has a very nice fragrance. The hair color is amazing too.

She says, “My hair looks natural and the amount of hair fall has also reduced to a great extent. The shampoo and conditioner are also very nice. My hair has gotten very smooth, voluminous and stronger. I ordered the Apple Blossom kids shampoo for my daughter and it has great results. I would recommend it to everyone as its very effective and affordable.”

    6. Love, Beauty & Planet

Love Beauty and Planet started with one goal. To make you more beautiful and give a little love to our planet. They want to help make a little difference towards a happier, less wasteful planet, with every shower. Loving the planet means caring for all creatures who share it. That’s why Love Beauty and Planet products are never ever tested on animals. They are independently certified Cruelty-Free and Vegan by PETA.

    REVIEW:
I was visiting my friend’s place and I used her Love, Beauty & Planet shower gel as well as body lotion and I instantly fell in love with them!!! I purchased them as soon as I got a chance. If you love nature, I’d recommend falling in love with this brand and its products for a lifetime. Fragrance? Amazing. Results? Great. A mood changer? Definitely! What else do you need?

    7. The Body Shop

The Body Shop has been a manufacturer of body and beauty care products for the past Forty-one years and has expanded its wings into the online world. They believe true beauty comes from the heart. For them, beauty is much more than just a pretty face. The Body Shop products are ready to meet your body care, toiletries, facials, skincare, and hair care needs and are available at The Body Shop. All products have natural raw ingredients. They do not use animal products or do any animal testing for their products. The Body Shop has conducted many campaigns to ban animal testing. The Body Shop believes that true beauty comes from self-confidence, vitality, and positive human thoughts.

    REVIEW:
I once used The Body Shop’s strawberry shower gel and I literally smelled like strawberries. It was an amazing experience. The gel cleanses your skin and makes it softer, smoother, and hydrated as well. It contains very less amount of chemicals. The brand can be a bit expensive but it’s worth it. I’d recommend it to everyone.

    8. Be Minimalist

Transparency in Beauty is what BeMinimalist believes in and works for. This newest skincare brand in the Indian industry has taken over the Internet as they recite The Ordinary which is a cult-favorite brand. BeMinimalist however, offers actives that are very affordable and highly effective. They don’t believe in plants rather they focus on the actives of a plant. It signifies that one should avoid using fruits on their skin and focus on using plant-based actives. They don’t test on animals.

    What are plant-based actives?
Plant actives are – quite simply – the flower, plant, and fruit-based ingredients that have been scientifically proven to boast powerful skin benefits.

    REVIEW:
I got to know that my friend, Ria is using BeMinimalist’s products and here’s what she experienced-

    BeMinimalist Niacinamide 5%

What were your expectations while purchasing the product?
Niacinamide is known as the all-rounder, superstar ingredient that does almost everything. It’s versatile; It smoothness, hydrates, it’s anti-inflammatory, helps with skin aging, helps with acne, battles hyperpigmentation. You name it – it does it. Therefore I was expecting it to simply make my skin better in all ways possible.

Did the product fulfill those expectations?
Mostly, yes. My skin visibly brightened over the course that I used it. While I did not see any noticeable difference in acne or aging signs, it reduced the texture, made it a little plumpy with hydration but most importantly, it evened my skin tone to a great extent.

Were you satisfied with it? If not, what were the drawbacks?
I am definitely satisfied by the inclusion of this ingredient in my skincare, especially in the formula that BeMinimalist provides. It will remain a staple. For the price point, I don’t see any drawbacks of purchasing it.

Would you recommend it to others?
A 100%. Whatever skin type you may be, even sensitive, this is likely to make your skin better in the longer term.

    BeMinimalist PHA toner

What were your expectations while purchasing the product?
A hydrating, gentle toner that will chemically exfoliate my skin without stripping it. Help with closed comedowns, texture, and dullness due to dead skin cell build-up.

Did the product fulfill those expectations?
As a toner, it did fulfill its claims to be hydrating and gentle on the skin. It did not burn, and unlike my experience with other chemical exfoliants, it did not even sing for a bit. Nothing, nada. It was like applying creamy water to your face and my sensitive skin loved that feeling.

Were you satisfied with it? If not, what were the drawbacks?
While it did help with dullness (so I do believe it lifted dead skin cells) it did not do anything for my textured skin. There wasn’t a reduction in my acne.

Would you recommend it to others?
At the mere price of ₹350 when I initially purchased it, this product is a steal. While it wasn’t 100% satisfactory, it’s worth trying for anyone with super sensitive skin who usually can’t tolerate exfoliation.

I hope this was insightful and helpful as well. You are more than welcome to write your reviews of the brands listed above or any other which you use, in the comment section below. Happy to know your recommendation regarding my next article’s topic.

Thankyou so much Dipti Parmar, Anjali, Kruti & Ria to help me craft this article. It wouldn’t have been the same without you all.

    Until next time!

  • Things One Should Know Before Coloring One’s Hair

Things One Should Know Before Coloring One’s Hair

Hair, a woman’s best accessory, a female’s worst nightmare. Are not we always googling how to take better care of our tresses?  Well, the newest worry related to hair women are going through these days; is regarding whether to color their hair or not. In this blog, we will first answer the question – “Should I color my hair?” and then, if you decide to go ahead with this adventure, you will find a list of pointers to keep in mind regarding that too.

Coloring the hair, especially permanently can lead to dry and damaged hair. Bleaching of hair is another detrimental step many of us are taking these days. Bleaching is usually done when we aim to get a lighter shade of hair. Oxidizing the hair follicles through coloring, damages the hair by removing its moisture. Bleaching, hence causes breakage and split-ends.

That does not mean one can’t successfully color their hair, but one must be cautious to seek only the best help through professionals. Here is a true hair color experience, in which the narrator talks about how hair coloring damaged her naturally luscious and straight hair.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXYfaE_Ietk

That being said, it is not necessary that the hair coloring experience shall be equally harsh for all of you. If you still want to get a kick out of it, by trying something new, read the below listed points to get the best results.

    1. Choosing correct color

Have you observed someone getting the loveliest shade of turquoise, but it just does not suit them? To ensure it does not happen to you, one needs to know their skin undertone.  After knowing your undertone, you can now choose a hair color that matches your skin tone. This does not imply one is restricted to five or six colors, it is just that your are more probable to get a successful haircut by following the skin-tone, hair color match.

    How to find your undertone?

    1. Check your veins. Blue veins = cool undertone. Green veins = warm undertone. Purple or mix =neutral undertone.
    2. Which jewelry suits you better? Gold= warm. Silver = cool. Both= neutral

After finding your skin-tone, you can now know which hair color shall suit your skin the best.

    2. Take a picture to the salon

“Red” or “Purple” are broad colors that have a myriad hues ranging in their palette. Do take a screenshot of the picture that shows the exact shade of blue you want- might it be electric blue or an icy blue shade, don’t settle for the vague term, specify your wish.

We thought to include a few trending colors in this blog, for you to decide which one works best for you.

    1.Mahogany Brown Hair

    2. Tie and Dye Hair

    3. Dark roots, Blonde hair

    4. Ethereal Purple-Grey Tresses

    5. Peekaboo Hairstyles – These are hair colors which are applied below the top layer or the most visible part of the hair. The color is only visible when you do a half bun or maybe a high ponytail. If you are specifically interested in a peekaboo hairstyle, you can find truly creative options here.

    6. Icy blue queen

    7. Red Hair Highlights

    8. Nude Hair Color

    9. Chunky Color Blocked Hair

    3. Always consider the financial aspect

Dyeing itself might not seem that expensive, but the products to use after getting it done are. Upkeeping also requires several appointment to redo and retouch the roots, so as to maintain healthy hair. Rainbow colors require more maintenance than natural shades such as brown. Do consider the money before jumping into this, as, no matter what money matters.

    4. Bleaching is a must

If you are going few shades lighter, it is a MUST to have your hair bleached first. If your hair is say jet black, it becomes all the more necessary to remove the natural pigmentation before introducing a new one. Also, it is suggested that you maintain hair strength before bleaching it. Bleaching fragile or damaged hair can make them worse.

    5. If it is your first time, trust the pro

I know it seems like a piece of cake, but experts are experts for a reason. There are a lot of rookie mistakes which don’t seem apparent to the naked eye, but happen all the time to noobs who opt for coloring their hair themselves rather than going to the salon. Uneven coloring with patches left undone, too less time or too much time for the process, not buying the correct products are few of them.

    6. Dyeing may affect your texture

Dyeing, especially the ones that require lightening, bleaching and more number of appointments can affect your texture. It can make them dry and messy, and can even impact volume in some cases.

    7. Take time to commit

Don’t take drastic measures. Going completely blond or grey is probably not a good idea. Experts suggest to go about it in sessions for it to have a better effect. That way, the transformation won’t be a complete shock and you can probably pause at the color you find favorable.

There are different types of coloring options within hair dyeing :

    1. Temporary if you like switching up the colors every once in a while, or you wish to keep it for a specific event. It is also a good choice if you don’t want to commit right away.
    2. Semi-permanent if you want to you are growing our a previous hair color or you don’t want to face the harsh repercussions associated with permanent dyeing.
    3. Permanent if you are super confident and don’t want the hassle of recoloring again and again.

    8. Water Babies, be alerted

Chlorine is damaging to the skin, especially if your hair is bleached. It will ensure that your hair loses all its shine. If you still must go to the pool, do wear protective gear such as swimming cap. You can also wash your hair with pure, non chlorine water before and after swimming for better look.

    9. Use appropriate products, post dyeing

Post dyeing you need to use products that complement your new color, moisturize your strands and aid in retention of your shade. While buying, do ensure that the shampoos are sulfate free. There are several beauty care products curated specifically for colored hair.

    10. Don’t shampoo post dyeing

You must not shampoo your hair at least 72 hours after getting it colored, so as to ensure that the color seeps into your cuticles properly. This point is underlined for those who have gone for more vibrant or brighter shades.

To conclude, it is not exactly unwise to color your hair, as #YOLO- It is indeed one life, but one must be wary of all the consequences attached with it. We guess we did a good job of delivering that to you.

For those who have decided to embark on this colorful journey, we have an additional bonus for you 😉

Here are some post-dyeing tips that will help you maintain those luscious locks:

    • Choose Sulphate -free, color protecting shampoo and conditioner. Sulphates rip off the natural oils and moisture present in your hair because of the foaming effect they have. It can lead to shedding of the beautiful color you spent time, money and hopes upon.
    • Washing hair with hot water is anyway not recommended. For people with colored hair, it is a NO as it can open your hair cuticle, allowing color to wash out during shampooing.
    • Washing hair less often is another task you must undertake. Unless you are working out intensely, you must restrict the number of washes to three ( at the most). Obviously, higher the number of washes, faster the color fading in the hair shall take place.
    • Using heat protectants before using any hair straightener, curler etc is necessary as heat can strip away color and moisture leading to undesired hair.
    • Try using dry shampoo, if your hair needs constant washing beyond the recommended use. You can also try using color tinted dry shampoos that will refurbish your hair color and also, save you a visit to the salon.
    • You can sometimes skip to conditioner, eliminating the shampoo altogether. Shampoo is more likely to result in color loss, but conditioner will preserve the moisture without major damage. When shampooing, conditioning is absolutely mandatory, especially at the roots.

It is empowering to know that women are embracing the concept of Body-Positivity and being comfortable in their own skins. Still, there is no sin in pampering yourself with a little make-up every now and then. I personally feel make up and clothes let you be a different person, when you are tired of being the same personality since decades. A new look can equate to a new mood, is not it?

That being said, makeup removers are anything but cheap. And then comes the vexing task of choosing which one works well for your skin, researching its ingredients etc. To save you the trouble, we have come up with six 100% all natural makeup removers which can made with minimal ingredients and simple instructions 🙂

    1. Extra Virgin Oil and Aloe Vera Water

Aloe Vera seems to be the magical herb that makes everything better – might it be digestion or your hair, right? Well, it is an integral resource in this 2 ingredient makeup remover as well. A bottle of aloe-vera water added to half a cup extra virgin olive, makes the easiest yet an efficient make-up remover. Dab it gently across your face to remove lipsticks, eyeliners and other make-up products. As it is a water based DIY mixture, it is advisable to not store it more than a week in the refrigerator.

    2.Coconut oil Face Wash Remover

This Instant Face Wash requires 8 teaspoons of water, one teaspoon of Coconut oil and half a teaspoon of any Face-Wash of Your Choice. You can mix it and store it in a container. The said quantity will serve around 3-4 wipes.

    3. Honey Scrub

Honey contains anti-bacterial elements and is a natural humectant which makes it a splendid choice for drawing moisture into the skin, while killing the acne causing bacteria. Using this make- up remover requires no rocket science- Simply take one teaspoon of raw honey and gently rub it across your face. Let it stay still for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and a cloth. Voila, your skin has that magical pregnancy glow, everyone is always talking about.

    4. Baby Shampoo Scrub

Fill the said makeup container with cotton pads all the way till its lid. On the other hand, mix one cup water, two tablespoons baby shampoo and 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of baby oil in another vessel. If you want the cleanser to be more hydrating, you can choose 1/4th teaspoon than 1/8 th. Pour the mixture into the container and use for future use. This recipe is especially suggested for people with acne prone, sensitive skin.

Lift your upper lid with one hand and look down into a mirror as you apply with your other hand. Black, brown, blue, turquoise and Green are widely used shades, you can experiment with different colors.

    6. Mascara

Eyelashes add to the beauty of your eyes and mascara helps to make your eyelashes look prettier. It gives volume to your lashes and also makes your lashes look longer. Mascara curls your lashes giving them a proper shape. Start applying your mascara from the roots to the tips of your lashes. One or two coat of a good mascara would be sufficient for your eyes.

If in case you have very short lashes or have less volume then you can apply three to four coats of mascara. Make sure you don’t over apply your mascara as it will thicken your lashes and will be difficult to remove it.

    7. Eyebrow Pencils

    9. Lipstick

Since decades lipstick has remained a star makeup product for the majority of women. Add color to the lips, you can choose any kind of color of like. The sky is the limit when it comes to lipstick shades. For beginners, we would suggest choosing a neutral or nude color which best suits your skin tone. Keep darker shades for parties or outings. As like eyeliners, there are different kinds in lipstick too, like matte, glossy, crayons, liquid, and many more.

Before applying lipsticks you can apply lip liners for defining your lip lines. Lip Liners eases the application of lipstick. Outline your lip lines with the matching lipstick shade. 11. Remove Your Make Up Before Sleep

When you don’t remove make up before sleeping, it leads to the following things:

    2. Inflammation in the skin leading to redness and dryness.
    3. The lips will get further chapped and dry, especially in the winter.

     Fashion

12.“Not too big, not too small, not too hot, not too cool, just perfect” exclaimed Goldilocks

Balance is essential in Fashion. If you are wearing a light blue cardigan, pair it with dark denim to maintain the rule of contrast. A long maxi can be accessorized with a short jacket ending above with the belly-button. Don’t wear two prints together, unless you are Sonam Kapoor in Khoobsurat (she can make anything work). Printed palazzo with a plain vest or the opposite works.

13.The mirror is your best friend if you let it be

Take a good look at your body and then, style it accordingly. For those of you who have a big bust, wear V- necks. If your fat is accumulated on the thighs, long skirts might be a good option as they won’t make your legs look as widespread as the jeans might. Women with great collarbones and smaller breasts can go for sweetheart neckline.

    14. Your hair is 80% of your selfie

Change your hairstyle at least once in two years. Just adding fringes or growing them out into a long-swept French braid can completely transform your look.

    15. A good chef writes her secret recipes for later use.

On some days, the same striped shirt will look phenomenal because of the new coral gloss you added. Maybe the turquoise dress is a new outfit altogether, when paired with the fishnet stockings. Remember the Good- Look days for later use and repetition.

     16. Design your wardrobe essentials

A classic blue mom jean, a little black dress, some chunky earrings, and bold red stilettos are some must haves I can think of right now. There are some pieces which go with multiple outfits, in varied occasions. Identify such multi-purpose items and don’t compromise on their quality, for they will serve you years.

    Hair

    17. Trim the Tresses

Your hair needs to be trimmed every six months so as to get rid of those dead ends. Split ends not only look ugly, they contribute to hair damage.

18.Style for the Hair is a nightmare dressed like a daydream

Hair straightening, dyes, bleaching, and any other heat product might make you look glamourous temporarily, but in the long run it is making your hair dry and brittle. We know it is difficult to abandon them forever, but save them for special occasions.

    19. Tangle from the top? Absolutely not!

Contrary to what most of us practice, de-tangling the hair from the bottom is actually the right way of combing your hair. De-tangling from the top involves lot of pulling and aggression, which can cause breakage.

    20. Comfort wear, comfort hair.

Just like our bodies, our hair also needs to breathe. Give them a break from the too tight ponytails and buns. Wear them down, especially while going to sleep.

    21. T-shirt over Towel

It is a widely accepted myth that towels must be used after hair wash, a soft old cotton t-shirt is a much better choice for your hair.

    Health and Hygiene

    22. H20 is your best hoe

Water is the only elixir you need. And here is why:

    1. It helps your body expel toxins more efficiently and gives your skin a radiant glow.
    2. It also prevents aging and keeps your skin supple.
    3. For those who have brittle nails, it means their body is dehydrated. Regular consummation of water will strengthen them.
    4. Reduces puffiness around the eyes.

    23. Caring is committing unconditionally

Just like your body needs three meals a day to function properly; it needs exercise, skin and hair care routine, among other practices for it to maintain its standards. You can’t be moody and expect flawless results. Whatever you plan, work that plan consistently.

    24. Body without Boundaries

It is sometimes easy to forget, especially in a quick shower, that our body is not restricted to our arms and legs. Make sure you wash your belly-button, the area behind your ears, back of your things and in between of your toes. Overall cleanliness, leads to holistic beauty.

    25. Eat to Live, don’t Live to Eat

Food has become a luxury, a social status and worse, a form of escapism. Quit the Maida and the sugar. Needless to say, include as many fruits and vegetables in your meals as possible. While eating, don’t consume any other form of entertainment: it leads to overeating.
