Creating Your Own Makeup Remover : 6 DIY Recipes

It is empowering to know that women are embracing the concept of Body-Positivity and being comfortable in their own skins. Still, there is no sin in pampering yourself with a little make-up every now and then. I personally feel make up and clothes let you be a different person, when you are tired of being the same personality since decades. A new look can equate to a new mood, is not it?

That being said, makeup removers are anything but cheap. And then comes the vexing task of choosing which one works well for your skin, researching its ingredients etc. To save you the trouble, we have come up with six 100% all natural makeup removers which can made with minimal ingredients and simple instructions 🙂

1. Extra Virgin Oil and Aloe Vera Water

Aloe Vera seems to be the magical herb that makes everything better – might it be digestion or your hair, right? Well, it is an integral resource in this 2 ingredient makeup remover as well. A bottle of aloe-vera water added to half a cup extra virgin olive, makes the easiest yet an efficient make-up remover. Dab it gently across your face to remove lipsticks, eyeliners and other make-up products. As it is a water based DIY mixture, it is advisable to not store it more than a week in the refrigerator.

2.Coconut oil Face Wash Remover

This Instant Face Wash requires 8 teaspoons of water, one teaspoon of Coconut oil and half a teaspoon of any Face-Wash of Your Choice. You can mix it and store it in a container. The said quantity will serve around 3-4 wipes.

3. Honey Scrub

Honey contains anti-bacterial elements and is a natural humectant which makes it a splendid choice for drawing moisture into the skin, while killing the acne causing bacteria. Using this make- up remover requires no rocket science- Simply take one teaspoon of raw honey and gently rub it across your face. Let it stay still for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and a cloth. Voila, your skin has that magical pregnancy glow, everyone is always talking about.

4. Baby Shampoo Scrub

Fill the said makeup container with cotton pads all the way till its lid. On the other hand, mix one cup water, two tablespoons baby shampoo and 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of baby oil in another vessel. If you want the cleanser to be more hydrating, you can choose 1/4th teaspoon than 1/8 th. Pour the mixture into the container and use for future use. This recipe is especially suggested for people with acne prone, sensitive skin.

5. Rejuvenating Rosewater Gel

Pour a small coconut bottle ( We used Parachutes) into a bowl. Add 100 ml of Rose-water into it. Next, take a jar in which you intend to store this make-up remover and fill it with cotton pads. Pour the Rose-Water and Coconut oil mixture into it. Ta-Da, your makeup remover is ready.

6.Oil Based Scrub

Team Oily skin, don’t stop reading, this natural makeup cleanser works well for all skin-types! Take 1/3 tsp. castor oil  and  2/3 olive oil, mix it in a bottle. Use one fourth of it, at one go. Next put a moist, warm cloth over your face for steam. Ensure that the cloth is not too hot, lest it should burn the skin. After two minutes, wipe off with another clean cloth and you are done 🙂

Additionally, if you want to use homemade cotton makeup pads as well, watch the video below which demonstrates the entire process quite simply.
