Diwali Dresses for Teenage Girl

Celebration Diya Deepavali Traditional Diwali

After almost 2,500 years of its first initiation, Diwali yet remains to be the most celebrated festival in India. Lights, sweets, crackers, relatives, everything that constitutes this auspicious festival is exciting and enticing. But,but the so awaited and contemplated “Diwali Outfit” takes the ceremony price, right? I call the Diwali outfit, “Mere Dil Wali” outfit. Every girl wishes to look dazzling, and for many years Diwali was the ritual time to buy dresses. It is an annual date to not only have the house festooned with ornaments, but also to adorn oneself.

Of course, shopping is more casual these days with all these online stores, and it’s not as if we wait for October to buy a new dress. Still, Diwali has not lost its charm. For girls who have just recently entered into the teenage years, it is an event worthy enough to give them butterflies in the stomach. With social media becoming a necessity, it is an opportunity to flaunt their best looks and build up their feed.

So, if you are one of those girls who wishes to explore diwali outfit for teenage girls, here are some ideas regarding what to wear this October. We have both authentic festive looks and the new, Indo Western ones just to ensure you get the best from both the worlds 😉

1. Ruffled Net Blouse with Minimalistic Ghaghara

This mint green ghaghra has its own charm. The sleeves are uniquely cut, not exactly sleeveless but they are not puff either. It is adorable but it is not a “5 year old’s outfit” adorable. What I am trying to convey is that it is a delicate, balanced outfit easily available at the official site of Nykaa.

2. Sleek A-Line Kurta

We understand that despite Diwali being a heftily celebrated festival, some girls just can’t bring themselves to wear those sparkly dresses. This suggestion is for those who want to keep it low-key. A simple A-line kurta with heavy oxidized jewelry- earrings or maybe kangans/ bracelets can do the trick. Some Garlands in the hair or a complex braid (fishtail or waterfall) can also accentuate the look 🙂

3. Three Piece Lehenga Set

As a teenager, I was always fascinated by dupattas. They have a certain appeal, as we have grown to watch our mothers wrap it around their neck every day. So, not to further delay this step in the becoming of a woman, why not purchase a three-piece set, this Diwali? It has a kurta with a slit on the front( totally chic), a flowy, comfortable ghaghra and of course, the dupatta!

4. White Anarkali / Salwar Suit

White is arguably the most gorgeous color. Especially for those, who don’t want to get into the “jhanjhat” of color coordination or mix-matching. One  just needs to slip into a white Anarkali or a chiken kurti probably with a golden border. Some Gold based jewelry would go with it. Open hair or maybe a pinned up puff would do well in the hair section 🙂

5. Cold Shoulder Top with Flowy Skirt

What about a pop colored ghaghra with an equally bright skirt? Indo-Western is the playing favorites among many these days, and I cannot lie that I am not one of those fans. Something between a blouse and a top, the funky outfit is completely doable. You can buy the below piece at Amazon.

6. Lovely Black Gown with Brocade Lace

For the latter ages of the Teenage, this beautiful cotton gown is the ideal choice. It is a one piece outfit which is more convenient, I believe. The net sleeves add a subtle yet sexy look. Also, I love how she has added a choker with a neat braid to complete the look. The brocade endings make the plain black look a more decorative piece.

7. Chirpy Yellow Sharara

Oof, this one has you drooling is not it? Shararas are as their name suggests “naughty yet classy”. I cannot think of a Diwali outfit that delivers as much pizzazz as a Sharara does. This is a Must Have festive outfit, everyone should have in their closet. You can check this one out at YOYO fashion.

8. Bandhani Kurta-Palazzo Set

Don’t go by the litte girl’s face, this outfit and design is available for bigger sizes as well and you can wear it whether you are 13 or 18. The gulaboo bandhni set totally won over my heart. The straps which are to be tied at the collarbones are my favorite feature. They make a simple outfit, so much more intriguing. The flat belles complete the look in a natural, wholesome way.

9. Lovely Half Sleeved Printed Maxi

If you don’t want to go full- desi, you can go for a printed maxi or 3/4th dress. It can be floral, abstract motifs, teardrops, diamonds or even geographical prints. As the print already speaks volume, you can go for simpler jewelry such as a bracelet or earring studs. The red beauty below is from Urbanic. Unlike 5 years earlier, we have a lot many sites for Ethnic wear online, not just the traditionally pursued ones. It is great how convenient shopping has become.

10. Eye Candy Churidar Set

Myntra is definitely my favorite destination for stylish and reasonable dresses. The turquoise blue against the bright pink is such a soothing combination. Looking at it gives me aesthetic peace. This is not too heavy or gaudy, hence, can be repeated at an office party or a dinner at a fancy place as well.

And just like that, we come to the end of this list. We hope this Diwali brings you all the prosperity and growth your heart desires. Cliche, but it is mandatory to say “Don’t burn patakas, just look like one”. That being said, “Tada and Doodles”, that is until next time 😉
