How to Remove Holi Colors from Clothes?

People search a lot about how to remove Holi colors from clothes. We are here to help you. Do you know what’s the best way to remove Holi colors from clothes? Do not get any! However, that seems next to impossible when you are a huge fan of the festival of colors. You will undoubtedly play with colors and those colors will make their way to your clothes. Many of you must be saving your old clothes just for this purpose, however, many must be planning to wear new clothes. So, for them, it is important to know how to remove stains from the clothes. There are multiple ways that we know which will help you to make your clothes wearable again.

    1. Bleach

If the clothes that you have played Holi in are white, simply soak them in hot water and add non-chlorine bleach to them. Wash those clothes and dry them separately to avoid the other clothes from spoiling.

    2. White Vinegar

In two to three liters of cold water, add 1 teaspoon of ariel and half a cup of white vinegar. The acid makes sure that every stain is removed from the clothes.

    3. Window Cleaner

Ain’t this sounding a bit strange? But it’s true. Make sure you use a clear ammonia-based-spray-on window cleaner in the process of removing the stains. Spray the window cleaner on the stain and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Blot the stain using a clean cloth and wash and rinse normally.

    4. Lemon Juice

Lemons have acid in them which helps in removing the stains from the clothes. Soak the stained cloth in lemon juice for about 15 minutes and then scrub it lightly using your hands. Wash the cloth as usual but separately.

    5. Methylated Spirit

Rub some undiluted alcohol on the stained area and rinse the cloth thoroughly under cold water. Then, wash it as usual.

  • How to Live A More Organized Life? Tips and Tricks

How to Live A More Organized Life? Tips and Tricks

First things first, if you are here, make sure to read the article with a notepad so as to write down points you think work well for you. If not that , just bookmark the entire page for later use. See, a stich in time saves nine, does not it? With so much information online, it is tough to keep track of things that actually work. Not just information, with so many chores and activities, it is tough to decide where to actually begin.

Before jumping into the list of how to get more organized, we would like to share a truly inspirational quote that sums up the text well in a single line.

Benjamin Franklin got it right, did not he? Well, with no more delay, let’s understand how to inculcate the quote in our everyday life. Below listed are some common yet efficient strategies that will help you get a grip over your personal and professional life. Even if you end up using half of the ones mentioned, you are bound to see a remarkable change in your life.

Pen and Paper are your best friends

The average human brain can only save up to 7 things in short term memory. No matter how confident you are, it is likely that you will forget a thing or two, if not more of your mental To-Do List. Hence, it is better to jot down all the work-big or small in a journal, notepad or any other system that works well for you. Also, the feeling of ticking off a “Check”, it is amazing, is not it?

    Use a system

It is not necessary that writing down is always in a journal. Some people prefer creative bullet lists, others prefer bulletin boards. Tech savvy individuals reading the blog, you can exhale if writing things down seems a bother to you. To the ones who prefer typing and a more digitalized approach, there apps such as Google Calendar, Trello, Google Sheets, Evernote and Microsoft To-Do among many others.  Try a few of these and then understand what works the best for you.

    Eat that frog first

The most important task is always the one you dread the most. You tip toe around it, claiming “at least I cleaned the cupboard” when writing that evaluation report is definitely more necessary than cleaning the cupboard. Do the nastiest task first. Ask yourself, if you could only get three things done today, which three would those be ?

    Live Minimalistic

Hoarding unnecessary stuff is not only bad for the environment, it is also bad for your mental epace. Most of the stuff we have is not exactly useful, but we have an emotional attachment to it. Sometimes, we buy things impulsively.  Don’t complicate your life by hoarding unnecessary stuff which will lead to a) more budgeting and keeping a track of what did you spent and where b) chaos in the house, when the space is insufficient in comparison to your possessions.

    Declutter once a month

If you are wondering why it pays to declutter your digital life, let me tell you that many psychological researches have shown that a messy home can lead to higher levels of cortisol and uneasiness. Decluttering not only makes work more efficient, it also prevents squabbles with family members or roommates over tidy-ness as all of us have different ideas about what a clean place is. A shambolic environment further reduces productivity and focus.

    Follow up is necessary

Some people really dig the planning phase of work, after all it is fun to dream of all these big ideas and break them down into smaller pieces. The process is especially more captivating if pretty stationery is involved xD But, one must be a thinker as well as a doer. We need to measure the achieved targets with the desired or “planned” targets. This aids one to gauge the gap between where we are and where we want to be.

Plan your outfits a day in advance

“Beauty is on the inside” might be a consoling we say to a friend who is going through a bad haircut phase, what it definitely is not, is a daily mantra we chant and believe consciously. Looks are important, but not so much that you end up wasting the precious hours of the morning trying 11 outfits. Plan your week’s outfits on a Sunday, along with accessories so that you can just slip into them the following day. If not a week, at least plan the next day’s outfit well in advance.

    Schedule worry breaks

This is something I came across in a Robin Sharma book which I feel is an apt trick for people who tend to spiral in the loop of overthinking. Just as you have a time for the gym, set up a time for worrying. That way, instead of multi-tasking every chore with overthinking, you assign twenty whole minutes to it, nothing more. Worrying constantly, makes you forget things and do everything you need to do, half -heartedly.

    Don’t Parkour

If you have to buy vegetables at nine, and write an important email at 10.00, your brain will be jumping from one disparate task to other. Club similar seeming or really short tasks together.

    • Similar Tasks – As for example, if you are going vegetable shopping, you could visit the ATM and get your Tuffen/ Toughened glass for the mobile repaired at the same time too. All three are outdoor activities and probably located in the same vicinity.
    • Short Tasks– If you have to wipe off your table, write a two line text to a friend and water your plants; you could do all of them in merely 20 minutes. Hence, they can be done in a flow.

Might it be short or similar, both the tricks work well and are sure to boost your productivity  🙂

    Use the Eisenhower Matrix

The image is self explanatory. Basically, we break down tasks into four categories based on two arenas. I shall not get into their definitions as the ones given above are lucid. Instead, I shall give an example based on each category that shall hopefully help you understand the nature of each compartment 🙂

    1. Q1 ( Very important, very urgent)  Payment of school fees of children a week before the end late or for students reading this, submission of an important assignment. This needs to be done in maximum of a week, no more than that. In some situations, maybe even couple of hours.
    2. Q2 ( Very important, not urgent)–  You want to lose five kgs. It is vital for biological well being and socio-psychological too. But, one cannot realistically lose 5kgs in a week unless you stop eating everything and probably end up fainting. Schedule exercising four times a week and slowly achieve your goals.
    3. Q3 (Not important, very urgent)- If you are a professional, this box is for delegating. Replying to certain mails or booking flights come under this. A personal goal could be getting your eyebrows done, it seems petty but its urgent as you have a wedding to attend.
    4. Q4 (Not important, not urgent)- You have to buy your daughter a new hairband. It is not that important as she already has three of them, but she wishes to wear a particular golden one. It is not that urgent either ( assuming your child does not throw tantrums) hence, it can be scheduled conveniently.

This matrix is widely popular in organizations, but can be applied for personal life as well if you are struggling with becoming organized.

    Back up Everything

Keep your devices updated, so that just in case of an accident, you don’t end up losing everything. Remember, prevention is better than cure and though, this definitely is a task filled with boredom, it is required.

    Parkinson’s Law

This one is a personal favorite among all the ” tips to be more organized I have read” Parkinson’s Law states that the amount of work expands to fill the time available for its completion. This simply means if I assign two hours for a simple task such as reading the newspaper, it will take me two hours even though I can read it in 45 minutes. This does not mean we should overestimate ourselves and expect rapid results, but mainly it points towards the biggest contemporary hurdle we face as Gen Z, procrastination. Set firm deadlines and bask in the glory.

Ideals exist in an ideal world

Don’t cut down on sugar entirely or stop watching movies all together. We understand you wish to increase productivity through organization but baby steps at a time. The All or Nothing attitude is not healthy or doable. If you forget to track progress one week, don’t give up on the plan all together. It is NOT  now or never. Excellence, is a habit.

    Know what you want

This seems obvious, but most people don’t know what they want. Sure, they see themselves with a BMW or a beautiful woman but those are post result attainments. As for example, someone might aspire to be a chartered accountant, to be affluent enough to buy the said BMW. For becoming a chartered accountant, I have successfully cleared the first round. Which means for now my long term goal is to clear the second stage of the examination. This goal itself can be broken down into smaller goals, which shall be subjective to each individual.

That’s the end of our To-Do List, I guess I get a check for successfully writing this blog, don’t I? Haha, believe me the feeling of ticking off a task from your list is such an addictive feeling, you won’t be able to stop once you begin. We would like to end  this write-up with a succinct quote listed below.

  • How to Wear a Saree? Dos and Don’t’s

How to Wear a Saree? Dos and Don’t’s

Though jeans and leggings predominantly own the women’s market now, saree still stands gracefully amidst all the new options that seem to be pouring in. The garment is beautiful, yes, indeed. It can be worn in multiple draping ways. It is also breathy. Moreover, spiritual science of India explains how sarees are a better choice as the negative energy absorbed from the atmosphere, gets stuck in the several rounds and pleats of the saree. They further get washed while cleaning, protecting us from the nazar or negativity.

All that being said, one can’t possibly ignore that how it is just a smidge tough to wrap around this ancient wear, compared to say, buttoning pants. To make the process easier, let’s discuss the do’s and don’t’s of rocking this outfit.

    1. The Blouse is the Boss

The blouse should be well- fitted, if it is too tight, it might choke your breath while too loose might be unflattering to the body frame. Another thing to look out for is the blouse- saree going in tandem. The print, color and even the sleeve length of the blouse, should compliment your saree, to deliver a wholesome look. One must explore different blouse designs, as sometimes a ruffle or a boat neck blouse can upgrade even the most minimalistic of sarees.

    2. Choose Fabrics Wisely

Not all fabrics are equally easy to drape. Georgette, Net and Chiffon are relatively easier to handle, while some materials like satin, cotton take time and expertise. Materials like suede and wool can make you sweaty and give a bulky appearance. They must only be preferred in winter. New fabrics like lyrca and shimmer are difficult to pleat, hence, must be avoided by beginners.

    3. There is more to it than what meets the eye

No matter how lovely your saree is, if you ignore the lingerie within, it is all in vain. Your bra must be the nearest color to that of the blouse, the same way the petticoat must match the color of the saree.

The bra must be well fitted. Transparent straps are recommended just in case the straps slide out of the blouse and spoil the entire image.

Your petticoat must be tight just above your navel, or right below it. Too high or too below will ruin the overall look of the outfit. If you are wearing a satin petticoat, do ensure it has an inner lining, otherwise it will grow too sticky.

    4. It is not wrong to ask for Help

Even the most experienced of saree- wearers need a helping hand time to time. If you are running low on time, ask your mother-in-law or neighbor to assist you in this tricky process.

    5. Attention please, Pleats !

You can pleat your normal saree, a day beforehand, to relieve you of the stress. This way you will save time on the trial and error phase we all go through. You can also buy a ready made pre-pleated saree, which will save you from the hassle of tucking, pleating and adjusting. You can check out the process in the video below.

    6. Saree and Safety Pins- a sisterhood in itself

Don’t be shy in using safety pins. When used appropriately, they make a saree as comfortable as sweatpants. ( okay maybe not sweatpants, but you get it, right xD ). Besides quantity, size also matters. Small ones are better for securing the pallu and medium ones are the go-to for the pleats. Selecting the same colored pins as the saree helps in camouflaging.

    7. Study Your Body

Understanding your body type and parts that need special attention will aid in making the most of the seven yard fabric. If your arms are slightly on the plump end, try going for 3/4 th sleeves to cover it up. If you want to accentuate your chest, wear an embellished blouse to make it look more prominent. Net is a good option for those with petite frames. For those who are on the short end, can go for a plain saree with a thin border. Vertical prints also make you look taller.

    8. Don’t forget the feet

For a beginner or someone who does work well with heighted footwear, heels are obviously a big NO. Flats or wedges, maybe platform heels, can seal the deal. Avoid wearing stilettoes as they can make you trip.

So this was all the expert talk we had to get across, before you indulge in the beautiful art of decorating yourself with a Saree. Might it be a work meeting, or a bachelorette party, I would choose to wear a saree in both occasions given how versatile the outfit is. Don’t you agree?

  • How to Find the Perfect Bra

How to Find the Perfect Bra

” A good bra is very much like a good friend – lifts you up, makes you look better, never leaves you hanging and is close to your heart.”

Investing in a good bra is probably one of the best investments you will make. An ill-fitted bra can firstly, dig into your skin, cause back and neck pain. Secondly, it can create awkward spillage and ruin your body posture. Thirdly, it can itch you and suffocate you, to the point you are waiting all day to just go home and rip it off your body. Hence, to own a suitable, comfortable, and stylish bra is necessary.

To understand the various factors that constitute a good bra and steps on how to find the perfect bra size, read ahead.

    A. Finding Your Bra Size

For this, all you need is a measuring tape, a pen and a paper. Ensure you are dressed in a simple tee shirt or any loose clothing, with a comfortable, non padded bra.

    1.Find Your Band Size

Take the measuring tape and wrap it around the band of your bra. The band is the stretchy material below your cups. Do ascertain that the tape is well around your torso, and is not too tight or too loose. Write the measure in your notebook in even numbers. If the number is 35, the measurement is to be taken as 36. This number is called the “Underbust” or “Bandsize”

    2.Measure Your Cup Size

Now, take the tape over your cups and wrap it over your chest. Again, we will not take odd numbers here, but only consider even numbers for correct measurement. So if you are size is 37.4 , take 38 as the measurement. This number is called “OverBust” or “Bust” size.

    3. Subtract The Band Size From the Cup Size

Lastly, the final step towards discovering your bra size is subtracting your Band size or Underbust from your Bust Size or OverBust. The difference will tell you about the cup size.

    Accordingly, 1 inch = A cup, 2 inches = B cup, 3 inches = C cup, etc.

The video attached below explains the process lividly.

    B. Points to Look For

    4. Don’t be Embarrassed of Your Size

32 A size is sometimes considered too flat and anything beyond D is perceived as huge. But, wearing a bra that is too loose or so tightly bounded that it makes you choke, is not a good idea. Wear what fits you and lets you breathe.

    5. The Band Should be Snug, Not too Tight or too Loose

Looser is not more comfortable when it comes to bras, unlike hoodies or say sweatpants. If the band is too loose, it is not doing its primary task, that is holding the breasts properly. And if it is too tight, it will get sticky when you sweat and dig in your breast tissues, which is not ideal. Moreover, the suffocation can prevent movement and cause soreness.

    6.Straps Falling

If you are straps are falling, it is because cups have a gap because the breasts are not filling the attire as the should. In this case, you must go down a size. A racerback bra or bra with straps that are more inward facing might also do the trick.

    7. Straps Digging Into Shoulders

Indentation marks on your shoulders mean that the bra is not comfortable. Instead of the band, the straps are doing most of the work of maintaining the chest upright. The band should actually carry the heavy weight instead of straps doing all the work. Going down a band size or opting for a sister size, is the solution to this common problem.

8.Sister Size is Not Limited to Jeans

Just like jeans, an apparel that is vexatious to shop for; bras are no piece of cake either. Sometimes someone with a 32B, could end up with a 34A or a 30C. The sister size is especially important for people with smaller band and larger bust and vice versa. This is because different brands have different measurement standards.

    c. Different Styles Available

Different occasions call for different types of bra. One must fill up their wardrobe with all the essential bras so that their outfit and mood is not ruined at the last moment, because of procrastination of one simple task. To make your task easier, we have listed all the Must Have Bras below 🙂

Tee Shirt BraNormal Bras have a horizontal line around the cup which might seem tacky and draw too much attention when paired with a tee shirt. A tee- shirt bra is seamless and smooth which gives a presentable look.

Backless/ Stick Up Bra – These bras might not work for heavy busted women. But, for backless blouses and deep-cut tops, this bra is a must have! Heavy busted women can go for bras that have a thin transparent back support at the end. A transparent back strip is better than a colored strip.

Sports Bra- To the women who love to hit the gym, or emerge in some relaxing Yoga, a fitted bra is necessary to ensure your breasts stay composed and don’t jiggle while working out. Not only it is uncomfortable, it also gives an unpolished impression of yourself. The way you dress, does matter, because first impressions are sadly based on looks.

Transparent Strapped Bra- Off-shouldered tops or tops with very thin straps demand strapless bra. These are regular bra with hooks that can help you change the normal straps to the transparent one.

Push-up Bra- Push-up bras will shape and accentuate your figure. This popular choice of bra, comes in both, wired and non wired options . The give a fuller look, especially for women with smaller breasts who want to appear more curvy than they are.

Deep Plunge Bra- For deep V-cut tops or sweetheart necklines, we don’t want the side of the bra to show. After all, we spent a ridiculously high amount for that perfect dress, did not we? The deep plunge bra has angled cups and the center gore sits lower.

Here is a video that further shows different kinds of bra wore under variety of dresses. It is a perfect bra guide for noobs and newbies.
