Benefits Of Using A Lip Balm & DIY Lip Balm At Home!

The brighter the lips, the brighter the smile!

Using a lip balm has various skin and lip benefits. We all love healthy and hydrated lips. And what better way than to get them at the comfort of your home?

We, at StyleFundas, have listed a few benefits of using a lip balm and a DIY lip balm technique below. Get to know some facts and tricks about a lip balm, and learn to make it at your home within 5 minutes.

Benefits of Using a lip balm

1) Moisturizes & Hydrates your Lips

We all know that lip balm moisturizes and hydrates our lips. Not in just winters, but their regular usage will make your lips look healthier.

2) Works as therapy

Getting used to a habit of applying a lip balm daily, helps fight the unconscious habit of stress and anxiety- kind of like biting your nails, and twirling your hair.

3) Protects your Lips

A lip balm builds a protective layer over your lips and protects them from the frigid winter temperature.

4) Comforts your Lips

Applying a lip balm helps you get rid of the dryness and comforts them. So, smile often to share that comfort with others!! 😊

5) Makes your lips more supple

Regular usage of a lip balm also makes your lips more supple and soft.

6) Helps skin heal faster

If the skin is dry with dead skin cells, lip balm helps it heal faster and sometimes within hours.

7) Hydrates your skin under the eyes

Applying a lip balm under the eyes makes that area of the skin hydrated and moisturized. Make sure to use a soft and mild lip balm consisting of natural oils as you’ll be using it near the eye area.

8) Regenerates skin cells

A lip balm not only removes your dead skin cells but also regenerates them. It also improves circulation and removes fine lines that may appear on the skin.

9) Makes your lips pink

Frequent usage of a lip balm also helps your lips look pink. Make sure it contains essential oils and your work’s done.

10) Can be used as a blush

If your lip balm contains tint, it surely can be used as a blush on the cheeks! And it looks so natural and subtle. It is a must-try hack for make-up addicts. If you love to try new hacks, do have a look at these fashion hacks!

How to make a lip balm at home? (Just in 5 minutes)

Making a lip balm at home is fun and also saves your time and money. And you can also make a tinted lip balm. So first let’s have a look at the ingredients you require and then hop onto the method.

Ingredients:

Beeswax and Coconut Oil [Equal proportions] Add a piece of Lipstick (any color) for tint (optional)
Vitamin E (1 teaspoon optional)
Moisturizer (1 teaspoon optional)
Peppermint Oil for fragrance (1 teaspoon optional)
Container

Method:

Step 1: Take equal proportions (usage of a measuring cup is advised) of beeswax (preferably grated to ensure the correct measurements) and room-temperature coconut oil (it will be in its solid-state). Mix and melt them well until they form a liquid.

Step 2: All of these ingredients are optional but I recommend adding them as they have various benefits. A teaspoon of vitamin E as it is good for hydration. A teaspoon of moisturizer to add extra supple for your lips. Add one teaspoon of peppermint oil as it can make your lips look fuller and it also has a good fragrance. To make a tinted lip balm, add any color of lipstick of your choice!

Step 3: Melt all these ingredients until they are in a liquid form and mix them well. Store it in a container and use it daily!

History Of Lip Balm:

According to Wikipedia, “Lip balm was first marketed in the 1880s by Charles Browne Fleet, though its origins may be traced to earwax. More than 40 years prior to the commercial introduction of lip balm by Fleet, Lydia Maria Child recommended earwax as a treatment for cracked lips in her highly-popular book, The American Frugal Housewife.”

I hope this was useful and you will try the DIY Lip Balm method at your home. I am sure you will not need to purchase another lip balm from any store again. Also, share your experience with us in the comment section below. Until then!
